Raindrops
« on: January 22, 2009, 06:57:07 AM »
This was the first poem I remember writing.  I was laying on the beach by Lake Michigan, sometime after midnight one night, staring at the stars and composed it in my head.  I remember running up the sand dunes to a friends tent waking him and asking for a pencil and piece of paper.  I wrote it on a candy wrapper because I didn't want to forget it.  I kept that candy wrapper for years before I finally wrote it on an actual piece of paper.

 Raindrop

The stars up in the heavens,
The seas upon the sand,
The sun shining brightly
O’er distant land,
Show me just how small I am
In this land of ours,
Where I am but a raindrop,
In the morning shower.
