The Guatama Buddha is an accepted Manifestation of God by the Baha'i Faith. I recently read a reference that said he came after Muhammed. How sad. He actually walked the earth around 500 bce. He told us of our soul. He said we should look into ourself for God. He was telling us about our soul. From this came Zen Buddhism. They teach that they have no God belief, but we must look into ourselves to find the truth. If you are reading The Gitas or specifically the Bhagavad Gita, you should enjoy them. Very enlightening.
