Has this ever happened to you?
« on: March 09, 2009, 07:36:53 PM »
Yesterday I logged in for just a few minutes. I remember logging out when I left the forum, but just now when I checked the stats to see who was online, I was still logged in! I checked the 'minutes to stay logged in' slot and apparently, I am logged in forever! i don't remember putting a checkmark in that slot. Shouldn't that time be deleted when a person logs out? Has this or does this ever happen to you?

Actually you aren't logged in.  There isn't any tracking going on.  When you check the box to keep you logged in, a cookie gets set and when you enter the site, it recognizes the cookie and, in essence, logs you in for you.  I will check and see how one can change that status.

I just played with logging in and everytime you log in, you can choose how long you want to be logged in.  If you check the box to stay logged in, then when you return to the forum, it will recognize you and you will be logged in at the time of entry.

Truthsayer,

I had a problem like this a while back.  I used the "Always Logged In" button all the time and during some Administration work I had to logout and couldn't.

I had started using and am still using Firefox rather than IE, but the general idea is the same.

Firefox Browsers... Go to Tools > Privacy > Show Cookies > look for your forum name > delete all cookies.
You don't have to delete ALL your cookies, just the ones for the MisFiT City Forum.

If you are using IE or some other Browser, let me know and I will see if I can conjure up a path of execution.

It's no big deal Sass, I just found it a bit strange. First time it happened to me that's all. Now that I understand it better, no worries. But thanks for all of your input.
