China - Map of Earthquake Location and more
« on: May 14, 2008, 12:35:39 PM »
I thought it was important to post a map of the area devastated by the earthquake in China:

And here are a couple other maps so you can get an idea of the location compared to the rest of China:

Here is an article that I found during my internet surfing.  It seems like an important issue since it relates to the maps I just posted:

China to Regulate Internet Map Publishing

"After text, pictures, and videos, China starts regulating Internet map publishing (here is the google translation.) The government believes that Internet maps can represent the state's sovereignty and its political and diplomatic positions in the international community — and consequently, inaccurate maps could harm national interests and dignity, produce bad political influences, reveal national secrets and harm national security, in addition to harming consumer interests. So from now on, publishing maps would require approval and (yet another) license from the state survey bureau. That means Google, Yahoo, etc., need to remove China from the map; or maybe they just pay up some officials and their agents to acquire yet another license. And our newest 80Gbps DPI monsters need to be upgraded to identify maps together with porn."

I guess that means I'm a scofflaw!!  :-DDD  Boy, oh, boy!!  I am scared!  ( )^( )

Actually, isn't "Google, Yahoo, etc." worth more than China?  How about the search companies just buy China, then they won't have to purchase the "required licensing"?!!

Borders are overrated!!  Every country in the world has to realize that they are going to have to give up a little of their sovereignty for the betterment of the world.  Once governments of countries like China (and Burma and the United States and Iran) come to accept that "the world is one country and mankind its citizens", the unification of the peoples of the world will be that much closer to a reality.
