BP Oil Spill

(1/1)

Sassafras:
The whole facade over millions of gallons of oil in the Gulf of Mexico has been going on for what seems like an eternity with still no answers in site.  The new issue now is criminal charges.  There seems to be some clean up crews here and there helping with oil covered animals, but no BIG heroes like oil tankers sucking oil pockets out of the Gulf before they reach land.  This disaster might be too big, too over-whelming for anyone to really comprehend.  I would be nice to have a TON of people in this country, or even the world, say "enough is enough" and start stomping their feet until they are the predominate voice heard among the current mellow, dream-like state everyone seems to be living.  "This can't be happening."  "It's just one more thing to add to the list of problems of this country, world."  "If I ignore it, maybe it will go away."  "Give it to Mikey, he'll eat it!"  (A line from a cereal commercial twisted in meaning... "let someone else be in the spotlight and hopefully everyone will blame them and not me while I try to jump ship like the dirt rat that I am.")

I have two words for this whole mess... Unimaginable Horror!

I believe we are still on the roller coaster and there is no end in site... for now.  The end might be the down-fall of oil and petroleum companies worldwide, but right now we are still dealing with the affects of our stomachs on the verge of retching with every loopy-loop.

Well, that is my 2cents.

My question is a little different.  Could this be the end of Big Oil influencing our politics?  Can we find politicians brave enough to stand up to these mighty cash filled companies?  Can we get through a GOP rally, finally, without having to hear the crowd chant, "Drill  baby drill"?  This fiasco simply shows us the arrogance of  big oil, the inability of an industry to police itself and those politicians from the past that were simply wrong.  The whole  reagan/bush/bush mantra of leave industry alone and they will help us is, was and will always be simply wrong.
