Thank you for all of the information provided on your website! I am going to try cutting out the MSG! Wish me luck!

Shanti,

We not only will wish you luck, we will give you all the support you ask for and any information we have that will help you.  We started our own journey of eliminating MSG from our diets over 10 years ago after finally figuring out what was causing Sassafras all her headaches, flu symptoms and disorientation.  It has been a long and tedious journey but very fulfilling.  Sass simply does not hardly ever have reactions because we have become educated.  We started with a printed out list of ingredients we thought was causing her difficulty and added to the list as our research continued and she continued to have reactions.

We congratulate you on your decision.  We also take phone calls and you can feel free to call us at the phone number on the card.

We'll be sending your card out to you today.

Keep up the good fight.

Mick and Sassafras Zellar

Welcome to the Forum and we wish you luck on your journey of eliminating excitotoxins from your diet.  You can print out a list of ingredients to avoid off of this site or at our Say No To MSG site here, http://saynotomsg.com/basics_list.php while you are waiting for you pocket card.  We'll be putting it in the mail on Monday.  We are located in Quartzsite, AZ for the winter, so you should receive it in a couple of days.

In the mean time, eliminate all diet products, ranch dressing, flavored snacks, such as nachos, toothpaste except for Arm and Hammer regular, all hair conditioners just for a starter and yes Sassafras has not found a hair conditioner that doesn't have MSG in it (by the way, she has very long hair so this was a blow to her when we figured this out).  If you eat out, do not eat anything breaded, no soups, no gravies, no seasoned fries, no salads made from lettuce that comes in a bag, and drink coffee, water, non-diet sodas and keep your drinks simple.  Avoid sweetened and complicated drinks in restaurants, such as mochas, hot chocolate, and any flavored creamers.

Some of the things I listed could be added back onto a list of ok to eat after you have investigated ingredients, but I assure you, if you eliminate the items on our list, you will eliminate your headaches.  I have been told that to change their diet so drastically  was too difficult and they would prefer to continue to take meds for their headaches.  I remind those that believe that, excitotoxins kill brain cells.  Those that show symptoms such as yourself, are being warned that you have to stop what is causing it.  Taking medicine that simply masks the pain, will not help you in the long run.

If you have any questions concerning an ingredient, please feel free to call us at the phone number on the card.

Good luck on your journey.

Keep up the good fight.

I discovered years ago that MSG gave me migraines within 90 minutes of ingestion. Since then I've had continued problems with Fibromyalgia, heart arrythmias and brain fog, even though I've avoided MSG. Imagine my surprise in discovering that MSG "derivatives" or "first cousins" made these problems flare up badly! I figured it out when I went back to college after my kids left home. At the beginning of each school year I'd have a major FMA flare-up that lasted 5 - 6 weeks. By then I'd decide it was too expensive to keep eating out or at the cafeteria and would start carrying lunch/supper from home. Soon I'd be feeling better.

Well, after the 3rd school year when this happened, I started looking into what was in that fast food & cafeteria food that might cause such problems. Sure enough, the MSG "cousins" were the culprits. It's sad not to be able to eat at my past favorite restaurants (Taco Bell, Applebees & Burger King), but I'm VERY HAPPY not to have had a major FMA flare-up or such brain fog since then! :D

We need to pass the word & get more FMA sufferers to try eliminating these toxins & see for themselves.
Thanks again,
truejeans
