Reports on shows we have been to in 2007

January 14, 2007... Delaware, Ohio

We've had a mild to no-winter until this show.  We were traveling from Muskegon, MI and hit freezing rain before Lansing and our truck gave us problems along the way which slowed our arrival even more.  Our plan was to leave at midnight and be at the show around 6-6:30am, but we didn't get there until 8:15.  We finally got everything inside and started setting up around 9:00am.  That only gave us one hour to get ready because the gate opened up at 10:00.  We managed to get set-up sometime after 10:00, but it was just the right amount of time for everything to work out.  Some vendors were disappointed with the show, but others were pleased. IMO, the show was "OK", not great.

Once the show was over and we were all packed up, we figured we would make the long haul back home, but we decided to stop short in Toledo and get a room.  Well, actually, I wanted to go home, it was Mick who wanted to stop.  The tie breaker was Cricket, but I could have sworn earlier she was on my side -- well, that's a fickle pooch for you.

Next show... Lansing, MI...

January 28, 2007, Lansing, MI...

Everyone who made it to the show had a great time.  Everyone who didn't make it, got caught in the blizzard or decided they didn't want to get caught in the blizzard and slept in.  The border between Michigan and Indiana got pummeled with snow, sleet, and freezing rain.  The show was a bit down at the gate because of the abundance of weather in southern Michigan, and it didn't come at any surprise.  Lansing, this year, was a nice show.

I would like to congratulate the Concessions on a Job Well Done!!  It is rare to see a concession open for the vendors in the morning and willing to stay open for the vendors during pack-up.  I have seen concessions stands open at the same time of the show, run out of food and COFFEE by noon, and close an hour before the show ends.  So, unlike Detroit, Lansing has their ducks in a row.  THANK YOU Lansing!!!

Next show, Detroit...  ::)

February 25, 2007... Detroit, MI...

Well, we are in the middle of the snowy season here in Michigan so there were a few vendors who participated in our Annual "No Show" marathon.  There were no awards given out so there is no need for those vendors to claim their award during the next swap meet in Flint.

Overall, Detroit was a decent show.  It was getting there that was the problem.  Hopefully the Flint show works out better for everyone - vendors and customers.

Next Swap Meet - Flint, MI...
