HVP: Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein
« on: March 18, 2010, 09:17:30 PM »
The recall of Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein (HVP) has me tied up in knots.  I don't know if I should jump up and down for joy because the food companies that use this crap are losing money, or if I should be absolutely pissed off because the contamination went this far without being dealt with before hand.  It is ridiculous that so many companies were effected by this recall of HVP, but it doesn't surprise me.  There are so many companies that rely on this crap to make their products irresistible, guaranteeing customers will come back for more.  It deserves them right.

Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein

Mick and I have talked to many people in grocery stores, restaurants, and else where.  Some people are aware of MSG (monosodium glutamate) being harmful, but not aware that they would find it in food outside of Chinese cuisine.  And fewer yet are aware of other ingredients like HVP (Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein), AYE (Autolyzed Yeast Extract), Protein Concentrate, Carrageenan, Xanthum Gum, and about 80 other ingredients will create the same symptoms as MSG.

The real problem with the recall is that it is tied to E Coli or some other sort of bacteria.  In reality, the use of this product and other excitotoxins should be enough for recall.  Someday the food industry will not be able to use them.  The cost of our food will increase, but it will be healthier.  Food will have to be processed closer to its market, which will create jobs.  Chronic headaches will quit being the number one malady treated by doctors.

Anything that is hydrolyzed is harmful to all of us, bacteria or not.  It kills brain cells everytime we eat these ingredients.

Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein (HVP) is one of most common soy-based food "fillers" used to make literally thousands of processed food products. It has been studied to be one of the most nutritious food fillers and can give numerous benefits. It's found in veggie burgers, gravy mixes, soups and many other grocery products.

Zanjay,

Welcome to the Misfi City Forum.   I am curious.  Is English a second language?  If so, this is a good place to practice and share your ideas.

We think that the recall has a problem in the uncleaned vegetable that the services has no cares in the foods healthy lifestyle. The quality of foods not determine in this action, that they need to focus on that situation. This is clear that they need to have a safety food to serve.

ZanJay,

Thank you for your post.  I think I understand enough of what you are saying to respond to your post.  Your English is a little hard to read, so please give me a little room for error.

When E Coli and other bacterias get into foods during processing, uncleanliness of the food and/or equipment is a likely cause.  Safety should be the concern of any food processing company - not only for the people working, but also the consumer.  I think that we can agree thus far.  It is sad that people had to die over this contamination, though.  It was unnecessary and careless.

My utmost feelings about Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein is that it is a contamination in itself.  HVP is an excitotoxin that causes neurological problems for everyone who ingests it.  These problems may occur right away or years later, but the damage is still done.

I hope I have answered your post and you respond to mine.  I would like to hear from you again.

Thank you for joining and posting.   [welcome]

Just to let MisFiTs and others know, Zanjay was found to be a Spammer with a capital S, so we deleted his account.  We do not take Spamming lightly here at the City.  We were only doing our civic duty and "taking out the trash" which happens as often as necessary.  We kept his post, though, because it wasn't spammy.  {Though it might smell like SPAM on a really hot day.}  My Bad!  I like spam, but only fried, not out of the can.

I would like to add that HVP is worse than MSG.  It is an excitotoxin that kills brain cells every time it is ingested.  It is not a food "filler".  It is a flavor enhancer.  This is why Panda Express is able to claim they don't use MSG.  They use hydrolyzed protein, autolyzed yeast, and maltodextrin that we know of.  Each of these cause worse reactions to those that have shown allergic reactions to MSG.

We didn't like this post when it was made, but the forum is open to all thoughts and ideas except for ethnic and racial slurs.  Sassafras debated his claim, but with the new spam filters we have, ZanJay was identified as a spammer and quite active in other parts of the internet.  So, "Off with his head."  Good riddance to bad rubbish.
