Title: Cheezburger anyone?
Post by: Sassafras on June 15, 2010, 08:51:52 PM
Ok, I really don't have any cheeseburgers for you no matter how you spell it, but there is this website out there called I Can Has Cheezburgers (http://icanhascheezburger.com/).  I am not kidding.  THAT is what the name is!!!

Here I have been trying to make my URLs make sense and all I had to do was to NOT use good English.  Go figure.

Now, the website isn't what I wanted to bring to light of this thread, but actually the article HERE (http://finance.yahoo.com/career-work/article/109791/once-just-a-site-with-funny-cat-pictures-and-now-a-web-empire?mod=career-leadership).  This guy has made money (and lots of it) on this site (and another 52 more sites) putting together one hell of a Web Empire/Nest Egg.  I am not really into the idea of being an advertising slut... but I'd be interesting in talking about the possibilities of advertising on MCE (http://www.mackinaccoast.com/).  Mick, anyone... what do you think?  Maybe creating a site with a totally different genre that would have advertising.  Huh....

Well, Cheezburger anyone?

I sure don't have anything against selling advertising on another site.  Of course, one would have to build a site that draws traffic, wouldn't one?

Thinking about it surely most sites draw traffic, case in point MFC.

Whilst idly ambling through the vacumous expanse that is the interweb how many lost souls have stumbled upon the MFC and took up residence. With such a varied range of appetites out there I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to generate revenue for the MFC through sites much like the afore mentioned Cheezburger.

Would that mean that we could have a free cup? ( ;) them that don't ask....)

Jip,

Long time, no see!!  It is good to have you back!!   W==(:D)==

Is it safe to assume when you say "MFC", you mean MCF, as in MisFiT City Forum?  Or are you referring to "Manulife Financial Corporation", "Maximum Fighting Championship", "MFC" (a Pearl Jam song), or maybe "Multi Frequency Compelled"?  Just to mention some of the other possibilities whether they make sense or not.

Well, assuming you meant MCF, I can't say that I ever would want to have advertising on the Forum.  I like the cleanliness of the City.  I would prefer to have a needless, pointless site for such an advertisers play box.

Besides, right now, my aim is to learn PHP and MySQL so I can create a more functional and esthetically eye-pleasing sunglass site.  Advertising is something I would consider once I have everything else looking it's best.

I would like to have some suave code lovin' people fall in my lap to help with forum and website building.  I haven't inquired for such a venue yet, but I am considering the possibilities.   :)7

As for the MCF coffee cup... I wouldn't feel right to just send you a cup and not others as the rules stand now - 20 new posts in various areas throughout the City.  Having said that... re-advising the rules would work.  Let me contemplate such a proposal and get back to you.   [peace]

Hi Sass,

It would appear my ability to copy three letters is somewhat lacking but it seems you got my point following much mocking ;)

I can get why you don't want to advertise and hopefully like you say you will generate some funds from else where without having to sully the good clean rep that is the MCF ::D

As for the cup rules I wasn't meaning that you should look at the rules. Rules are rules after all but I thinking I'll soon be getting to the required number of posts etc.

Glad to be back.
