Don't use Shake'n Bake (MSG)... use your own blend of spices

(1/1)

Sassafras:
I was reading a recipe on Yahoo which started out with boneless, skinless chicken breast
and SHAKE 'N BAKE Original Chicken Seasoned Coating Mix... then I stopped.   :o  Excuse Me!?!

Then I wrote this review:

--- Quote ---I find this recipe revolting because I'm allergic to Monosodium Glutamate and through research I have found many ready-mixed spice packets, like Shake-n-Bake, contain this harmful ingredient.  When I've ate foods with MSG in the past, I have been sick for up to 3 days.  Once I had an episode so bad I should have gone to the hospital, and I always get a migraine.  My reactions are similar to the "one day flu", but I have found through my research the "one day flu" is actually food poisoning usually caused by an MSG reaction.  I hope more people in the world, or at least the United States, would realize and understand the dangers of MSG and STOP EATING IT!!!  Signed, Sassafras

Instead of using already prepared packets of spices containing MSG, I propose having your own spices and make your own mixture of spices.  It really isn't that hard or time consuming.  You just have to have the spices available to you.  When you purchase your spices, make sure you have the essentials.  When deciding whether to purchase the big container or the small one, consider each spice you are purchasing - Essentials, big container and Special spices, small container.
