Title: Chili Goulash
Post by: Sassafras on August 14, 2013, 01:16:12 PM
This is a recipe that was started by Mick but I have made it my own.  There are variations for both of us, for instance, we use fresh or canned mushrooms when they are handy.  Today they have been omitted for no other reason other than I don't have any

2 person recipe.

Ground Beef... 1 lb.
2 cans of diced tomatoes.  No spices pre added.  Not stewed.
2 cans of kidney beans
            One Light
            One Dark
1 cup or there abouts of Macaroni
Pepper
Chili Powder
Garlic Powder
Minced Onion Flakes. Because I didn't have any Onions. Darn it!!
Cumin
Celery Salt
Garlic Salt

Spices are really up to what ever the individuals like.  I hate to do that to people who fit recipes as a recipe states, but it's true.  We like cumin, some people don't.  Now, I will say, we use pepper and chili powder liberally in this recipe.  I'm sure there is no such thing as "too much" pepper or chili powder when it comes to this recipe.

Cooking Instructions:
Fry the ground beef and add some spices, e.g. pepper and chili powder to start.  Taste when meat is fully cooked.  Add more spices.  Garlic Salt and Celery Salt I used only a little.  Taste again.  Add more spices to your liking.  The dish will have a definite mexican flavor to it.  Add onions or minced onion flakes.  Onions sweeten a dish, so the more you add, the sweeter the outcome.  Fresh onions are more forgiving than minced or powder form.  Add diced tomatoes and kidney beans.  Add water.  Enough water so when you add the macaroni, the water will cover everything.  Cook until done, stir occasionally.

Try it and let us know how it worked out.

Warmly
